The Secretary must manage the historical park and preservation district under this subchapter and the laws that apply to National Park Service units, including the National Park Service Act (approved August 25, 1916) and the Historic Sites Act (approved August 21, 1935). The Secretary may make a cooperative agreement with the State of Georgia to help operate the State of Georgia Visitor Center in Sumter County, must collect oral histories about the park, its people, and nearby areas, and may preserve personal property acquired for the park. Twenty-five years after December 23, 1987, the Secretary must bring together nationally known historians and experts to review research on President Carter and recommend how to interpret and preserve his life at the park and preservation district.
