Summary

The Secretary may accept and spend money from an endowment set up with the National Park Foundation or an organization that replaces it. After consulting with the Commission, the Secretary must use that money only to explain, preserve, and care for park resources and public access areas. The Secretary cannot spend the funds unless they find the spending matches the goals of this part of the law.

(a)In accordance with the provisions of subsection (b), the Secretary is authorized to receive and expend funds from an endowment to be established with the National Park Foundation, or its successors and assigns.
(b)Funds from the endowment referred to in subsection (a) shall be expended exclusively as the Secretary, in consultation with the Commission, may designate for the interpretation, preservation, and maintenance of the Park resources and public access areas. No expenditure shall be made pursuant to this section unless the Secretary determines that such expenditure is consistent with the purposes of this subchapter.
