Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LIX–HH— - CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK › § 410jjj–1
The Secretary can get land and water inside the park by donation, by buying it with donated or appropriated money, or by swapping land. Land owned by the State of South Carolina or its local governments can only be accepted as a donation. If land is bought while it has a hunting lease, that lease can keep running under its terms until it ends or for five years, whichever is shorter. The Secretary can stop any part of the lease that conflicts with park protection goals or with federal or state game laws, using the stricter rule.
