The Secretary can get land or rights to land inside the park by gift, by purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or by trade. The owner must agree before any land is taken. Land owned by the State of Nevada or its local governments can only be acquired by gift or trade. Any lands and waters inside the park that the Forest Service managed before October 27, 1986 are transferred to the Secretary to be managed under this subchapter. The Humboldt National Forest boundaries will be adjusted to reflect that transfer.
