Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 63— - FEDERAL CAVE RESOURCES PROTECTION › § 4308
Allows $100,000 to be provided to carry out the chapter’s goals. It does not require changing any land management plan whose preparation began before November 18, 1988. It also does not change U.S. mining or mineral leasing laws or affect any valid existing rights. Any fees for collecting cave resources, money from forfeited bonds when a permit holder breaks permit rules (including permits under section 4306), and civil or criminal fines go into a special fund in the U.S. Treasury. The Secretary can use that fund, but only when Congress approves the spending in advance, to improve, repair, restore, or otherwise benefit important caves on federal lands.
