Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LX— - NATIONAL MILITARY PARKS › § 430f–10
The Secretary must run the Unit under the rules for National Park System places and under sections 430f–6 to 430f–12. That includes the National Park Service Act (August 25, 1916) and the Historic Sites Act (August 21, 1935). The Secretary must tell the public about the Siege and Battle of Corinth and other Civil War events near the city of Corinth, showing how they fit into the Civil War and American history. The Secretary must also find and protect Civil War–era sites and stories there, like the role of railroads, the Corinth contraband camp, and the rise of field fortifications. To do this, the Secretary may make cooperative agreements with colleges, historical societies, state and local agencies, and nonprofits. The Secretary may give technical help to Mississippi, Tennessee, local governments, nonprofits, and private landowners who work to protect or interpret Civil War resources near Corinth. The Secretary may not own or manage resources outside the Unit.
