Summary

Interior Secretary can acquire land in section 430uu–1 by donation, purchase, exchange; any land that was part of Beaverhead National Forest on May 17, 1963 is transferred to Big Hole National Battlefield and managed under the National Park Service Act of August 25, 1916.

(a)The Secretary of the Interior may acquire by donation, purchase, exchange, or otherwise, lands and interests in lands within the area described in section 430uu–1 of this title.
(b)Any lands described in section 430uu–1 of this title that are a part of the Beaverhead National Forest on May 17, 1963, are hereby excluded from the forest and added to the Big Hole National Battlefield.
(c)Lands included in the Big Hole National Battlefield pursuant to sections 430uu to 430uu–4 of this title shall be administered in accordance with the provisions of the Act entitled “An Act to establish a National Park Service, and for other purposes”, approved August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535; 16 U.S.C. 1–3),11 See References in Text note below. as amended and supplemented.

The Act entitled “An Act to establish a National Park Service, and for other purposes”, approved August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535; 16 U.S.C. 1–3), referred to in subsec. (c), is act Aug. 25, 1916, ch. 408, 39 Stat. 535, known as the National Park Service Organic Act, which enacted section 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this title and provisions set out as a note under section 100101 of Title 54, National Park Service and Related Programs.
