Congress sets aside up to $25,000 from Treasury funds not already committed to finish a monument honoring the soldiers who died in the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. The Secretary of the Army must direct and approve the work. Louisiana must transfer control of the land for the monument under Act No. 41 of its legislature, approved July 19, 1902. Once finished, the United States will take over care of the monument and grounds, and more Treasury money may be provided later if needed.
