The Secretary of the Interior can accept donations when the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and the Grand Portage Band of Chippewa Indians, Minnesota give up their rights to lands listed in section 450oo that are held in trust by the United States. Tribal leaders may sign papers to do this. When accepted, those lands become part of Grand Portage National Monument, and the Secretary must honor any existing life assignments on the properties according to their terms.
