Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXIII— - NATIONAL SEASHORE RECREATIONAL AREAS › § 459b–7
Creates a Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission. It has ten members who serve two-year terms and ends on September 26, 2029. Six members come from recommendations by the towns’ boards of selectmen named in the law (one from each), one from the Barnstable County commissioners, two from the Massachusetts Governor’s recommendations, and one chosen by the Secretary. The Secretary picks the Chair. If a seat opens, it is filled the same way it was first chosen. Members do not get pay for the job, but the Secretary can pay reasonable expenses if the Chair signs the bill. The Commission makes decisions and gives advice by a majority vote. The Secretary or a delegate must meet with the Commission from time to time about developing the Cape Cod National Seashore and carrying out related provisions. Members are exempt, for this appointment, from the laws listed (18 U.S.C. 281, 283, 284, 1914 and 5 U.S.C. 99) except they may not accept government salary from sources other than their private employer at appointment, and they may not take part in legal claims against the Government about matters they handled while serving or for two years after.
