Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXIV— - RECREATIONAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS › § 459u
The Secretary of the Interior can let a recipient of recreational demonstration project land (under sections 459r–459t) trade or give that land to get other land of about equal value. The Secretary can remove a rule that the land must automatically go back to the United States, but only if the recipient agrees that the new land will follow the same original conditions. If the recipient fails to follow those conditions for more than three years, and the Secretary follows the procedures in those sections, the recipient must give the land back to the United States. Land returned this way will be managed or disposed of the same as other project lands that return to the United States.
