Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XCI— - HELLS CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460gg
Creates the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area to protect the area's scenic, historic, and archaeological features and to preserve the 71-mile stretch of the Snake River between Hells Canyon Dam and the Oregon–Washington border, plus parts of nearby streams and lands. The recreation area also includes the Hells Canyon Wilderness, the river segments listed in section 3, and the wilderness study areas named in section 460gg–5(d). The area matches the map titled “Hells Canyon National Recreation Area” dated May 1978, on file at the Forest Service. The Secretary of Agriculture must publish a full boundary description in the Federal Register as soon as possible, but no later than eighteen months after December 31, 1975.
