Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER CXIX— - SPRING MOUNTAINS NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460hhh–5
The Secretary can get land or land rights inside the Recreation Area by gift, buying with donated or approved funds, land swap, or transfer from another federal agency. Land owned by the State of Nevada or its local governments can only be acquired by gift or swap. Any land, water, or rights the United States gains or gives to the Secretary after August 4, 1993, become part of the Recreation Area and must be managed under the National Forest System rules and the rules in this subchapter. When using section 100506 of title 54, boundaries set for National Forest System units count as if they were the National Forest boundaries on January 1, 1965. Money from the Land and Water Conservation Fund can be used to buy land to carry out the goals of this subchapter.
