Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXXV— - WHISKEYTOWN-SHASTA-TRINITY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA › § 460q
Creates the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area in California so people now and in the future can use and enjoy the Whiskeytown, Shasta, Clair Engle, and Lewiston reservoirs and nearby lands, while protecting their scenic, scientific, historic, and other public values. The area’s borders are shown on map BOR–WST 1004, dated July 1963, which is kept in the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation office at the Department of the Interior and open for public inspection. Existing legal rights remain in effect. The Whiskeytown unit will be run by the Secretary of the Interior. The Shasta and Clair Engle–Lewiston units will be run by the Secretary of Agriculture, except any lands or waters needed for operating the Central Valley project will stay under the Interior Secretary’s control as he decides. The two Secretaries must coordinate their planning and management so the whole recreation area is managed in a consistent way.
