Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXXVII— - PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL LAKESHORE › § 460s–5
Makes the Secretary responsible for running, protecting, and improving Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore under the laws that govern National Park Service areas, including the Act of August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535; 16 U.S.C. 1 et seq.). The Secretary may also use other conservation and management powers if those powers help the park’s purposes. The Secretary must make and carry out a land and water use plan that provides public recreation facilities (including improvements to Alger County Road H–58), protects scenic, scientific, and historic features, and manages renewable natural resources, such as forage and forest products, in ways that do not significantly harm recreation or those features, as allowed by sections 460s–8 and 460s–9. A scenic shoreline drive may not be built in the lakeshore.
