Money the government gets from a lost bond or deposit, or from a judgment or settlement for damage to Forest Service land, must be deposited into the U.S. Treasury. Those funds are set aside to pay for the repair, protection, or cleanup work needed because of that damage and can be used until spent; any leftover money goes to miscellaneous receipts.
