The Secretary must keep investigating, share information, and send regular reports to the public, the President, and Congress about fish and wildlife. The reports must cover seven areas, including how fish and fish products are made and reach markets (including foreign products that affect U.S. fisheries); how many fish and wildlife exist and what they need; the economic competition of fish products with other goods; statistics on commercial and sport fishing; wildlife numbers, progress in getting more wildlife refuges or protected areas, and coordination of wildlife efforts; ways to improve production, marketing, and education for fishing and wildlife; and any other related public-interest matters.
