Defines key words used in the chapter. Appropriate congressional committees are the Senate Committees on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and on Environment and Public Works, and the House Committee on Natural Resources. Board means the National Fish Habitat Board set up under section 8203. Director means the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Environmental Protection Agency Assistant Administrator means the EPA’s Assistant Administrator for Water. Indian Tribe has the same meaning as “Indian tribe” in 25 U.S.C. 5304. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Assistant Administrator means NOAA’s Assistant Administrator for Fisheries. Partnership means an entity that Congress names a Fish Habitat Partnership under section 8204. Real property interest means an ownership interest in land or in water, including water rights. Marine Fisheries Commissions means the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission, and the Pacific States Marine Commission. Secretary means the Secretary of the Interior. State means the several States and also Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the United States Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. State agency means the State’s fish and wildlife agency or any State department or division that manages or protects inland or marine fishery resources or their habitat under State law or the State constitution.
