Federal theft and fraud laws cover the Corporation’s money and property and any United States money or property given to the Corporation. If a person, intending to cheat the Corporation or to deceive any director, officer, or employee of the Corporation or of the United States, makes false entries in the Corporation’s books or files false reports, they can be fined up to $10,000, jailed up to five years, or both. If a person takes compensation, rebates, or rewards, or enters into conspiracies, collusion, or any agreement to defraud the Corporation or to wrongfully defeat its purposes, they can be fined up to $5,000, jailed up to five years, or both.
