Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 12C— - FORT PECK PROJECT › § 833m
When land or land interests are taken under sections 833l through 833p, the Secretary of the Interior must decide a fair amount of money to pay to the Native Americans affected. The money for the tribe and for individual allottees or their heirs goes from funds provided for the Fort Peck project to the superintendent of the local Indian agency (or another official the Secretary names). That official must put the payments on the agency’s books for the tribe’s and each person’s account.
