Anyone who works for the U.S. government and who keeps records or handles money or securities, and who on purpose makes a false entry in those records or files a false report about that money or those securities to deceive, mislead, hurt, or cheat, can be punished. The punishment can be a fine as the law allows, imprisonment for up to ten years, or both.
