Summary

Changed the word "Commissioners" to "magistrates" in 1968. Later, the name "U.S. magistrates" was updated to "U.S. magistrate judges" under Pub. L. 101–650, section 321. The 1968 change generally took effect on October 17, 1968. If a later start date applied, it was whichever came first: when the new magistrates were appointed and began work, or the third anniversary, October 17, 1971.
