Makes it a crime for any officer or worker at a U.S. mint or assay office to reduce the amount of pure gold or silver in coins, make coins lighter or less valuable than the law requires, tamper with the official scales or weights to cheat, or steal metals, coins, medals, or money entrusted to them. Anyone who does these things can be fined under federal law, jailed for not more than ten years, or both.
