You must not, without permission, go onto U.S. property intending to collect intelligence that would harm the United States if you know the place is run by an intelligence agency and is closed or restricted. Element of the intelligence community — an agency or part of the U.S. intelligence community. Penalties grow with repeat offenses. A first offense can bring a fine under section 3571 and/or up to 6 months in jail. A second offense after a prior conviction can bring a fine and/or up to 2 years in prison. A third or later offense after a prior conviction can bring a fine and/or up to 5 years in prison.
