Title 18 › Part PART I— - CRIMES › Chapter CHAPTER 39— - EXPLOSIVES AND OTHER DANGEROUS ARTICLES › § 836
It is illegal to bring fireworks into a State, or give them to someone to bring into a State, if you know they will be kept, sold, or used in ways that State law bans — unless you are just passing through as part of continuous interstate travel. You can be fined under federal law, jailed for up to one year, or both. Common and contract carriers, international or domestic water carriers doing interstate business, and shipments for use by Federal agencies are not covered. Each State’s own definition of "fireworks" is used. Effective July 1, 1954.
