The Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection must send Congress a yearly report listing details for every violation of section 1436 (as amended by section 8007) and section 1584 that happened during the previous year. The report must give the violator’s name and address; the exact offense; the port or place where the items entered; a description and quantity of seized items and where they came from; which office made the seizure by location; and, for each violator and port, the penalties CBP actually assessed, the penalties it could have assessed, and the reasons for any reduced penalties. “Appropriate congressional committees” means the Senate Committee on Finance and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and the House Committee on Ways and Means, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
