§4208 Interests of small businesses

Summary

Congress wants the U.S. Trade Representative to help small businesses take part in trade talks and for the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative’s title to keep showing responsibility for small business issues. The Assistant United States Trade Representative for Small Business, Market Access, and Industrial Competitiveness must make sure small businesses’ interests are considered in all trade negotiations under the goal in section 4201(a)(8).

(a)It is the sense of Congress that—
(1)the United States Trade Representative should facilitate participation by small businesses in the trade negotiation process; and
(2)the functions of the Office of the United States Trade Representative relating to small businesses should continue to be reflected in the title of the Assistant United States Trade Representative assigned the responsibility for small businesses.
(b)The Assistant United States Trade Representative for Small Business, Market Access, and Industrial Competitiveness shall be responsible for ensuring that the interests of small businesses are considered in all trade negotiations in accordance with the objective described in section 4201(a)(8) of this title.
