Title 2 › Chapter CHAPTER 29— - CAPITOL POLICE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - POWERS AND DUTIES › § 1975
Allows a Capitol Police officer to go outside the United States when three things happen: the trip is with or to prepare for a Senator’s travel (including trips with a congressional delegation); the officer is doing security advice and liaison work (including advance security checks); and the Senate Sergeant at Arms gives prior approval. The officer cannot do law-enforcement work while on that trip. Overtime, travel, and related costs for such trips must be paid back to the Capitol Police from the Senate’s Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper contingent expense account. Those repayments go into the Capitol Police’s general expense or salary accounts and can be used in the year received and the next fiscal year. Applies to fiscal year 2005 and after. "United States" means the states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories and possessions.
