Under rules set by the Secretary of the Senate, Senators and Senate-paid officers or employees may name one or more people to receive any unpaid salary or other amounts if they die. If no one is named, the money goes to the spouse or, if none, to the next of kin. Section 50 of the Revised Statutes does not apply to these people.
