The Sergeant at Arms must arrange, starting October 2, 1962, for any Senate and House committee to attend a deceased House Member’s funeral, despite other laws. House funds, under rules of the House Oversight Committee, must pay necessary funeral and burial costs and the expenses of attending for the Member, that committee, the Sergeant at Arms (or representative), and the widow (or widower) or minor children.
