§6101 Transfer of funds from appropriations account of the Office of the Vice President and the Offices of the Secretaries for the Majority and Minority to the Senate contingent fund

Title 2 › Chapter CHAPTER 61— - SENATE LEADERSHIP › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - GENERAL › § 6101

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

If the Vice President sends a written request, the Secretary of the Senate must move whatever dollar amount the Vice President names from the Vice President’s appropriation into the Senate contingent fund under "miscellaneous items." The Vice President may spend that money for necessary expenses and must pay bills from it with vouchers the Vice President approves. The Secretary of the Senate may advance money to cover those costs. The same rules apply if the Secretary for the Majority or the Secretary for the Minority makes a written request: their named amounts move from their offices’ appropriations into the contingent fund, they may pay expenses from those transfers with approved vouchers, and the Secretary of the Senate may advance sums as needed. These rules start in fiscal year 2005 and continue every fiscal year after.
