Title 2 › Chapter CHAPTER 61— - SENATE LEADERSHIP › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - MAJORITY AND MINORITY LEADERS AND WHIPS › § 6135
Creates a Senate account called the Representation Allowance Account for the Majority and Minority Leaders. It pays for expenses the Majority and Minority Leaders have when working with foreign lawmakers, top foreign officials, and international organizations. The Secretary of the Senate pays claims from the account. Each year the money is split half to each leader and used only to reimburse actual, documented expenses. These payments are not reported as income and are not allowed as a tax deduction under federal tax law (Title 26). Up to $20,000 may be appropriated to the account each fiscal year, starting with the year ending September 30, 1985.
