The Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate may, with approval from the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, provide extra office space, equipment, services, and facilities for a Senator to use in that Senator’s State when the President declares a disaster or emergency under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Costs must be paid from the Senate’s contingent fund for the Sergeant at Arms’ office, on vouchers signed by the Sergeant at Arms and approved by the Committee. This became effective on June 12, 1997.
