The Sergeant at Arms may hire people and pay them by the day for official work. Daily pay can't exceed the per‑day equivalent of the highest Senate standing‑committee staff rate and must be paid from the "Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate" contingent fund account with vouchers he approves.
