Effective Oct. 1, 1981, all jobs created by law in the Sergeant at Arms office ended except the Sergeant at Arms, the Deputy Sergeant at Arms, and the Administrative Assistant. He may create positions and set pay, but no employee may be paid more than the Sergeant's annual pay minus $1,000. Jobs paid from the Senate contingent fund are unchanged.
