The Sergeant-at-Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate get the same law-enforcement authority as Capitol Police, including the ability to carry firearms, but only if they meet certain qualifications. They must have at least 5 years of law-enforcement experience, current firearms certification, and any Capitol Police firearms qualifications. The Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate can make rules to enforce this.
