Starting October 1, 1981, the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate may sell or trade in used or extra furniture and equipment. Money from those sales must go into the U.S. Treasury and be credited to the "Miscellaneous Items" appropriation under "Contingent Expenses of the Senate."
