Grant recipients must keep records the Secretary requires. The records must show the grant amount and how it was spent, the project's total cost, how much came from other sources, and other documents needed for an audit. Unspent grant money may be carried into the succeeding five-year period and used there only if it was obligated for the same purpose during the five-year period following the date of the initial grant award.
