Title 20 › Chapter CHAPTER 28— - HIGHER EDUCATION RESOURCES AND STUDENT ASSISTANCE › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - STUDENT ASSISTANCE › Part Part H— - Program Integrity › Subpart subpart 3— - eligibility and certification procedures › § 1099c–2
The Secretary must review all current rules under this subchapter that affect program participants. The review must find rules that duplicate others or are not needed. It can check that rules are applied the same way, set up combined checks for eligibility and compliance (like audits, program reviews, and recertifications), and measure extra costs when rules written for businesses are applied to college facilities and equipment. The Secretary must also look for ways to improve, simplify, or remove rules for colleges that received less than $200,000 in each of the two award years before October 7, 1998 (excluding schools in section 1002(a)(1)(C)). The Secretary must consult with college representatives while doing these reviews.
