The Secretary can give grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements to help schools make safer, more supportive places for learning. Funds must be used to make temporary alternative classrooms better and to expand behavioral supports and proven schoolwide interventions. Allowed work includes training staff and parents on spotting and handling behavior problems, teaching positive behavior methods, creating or using proven programs and curricula, linking schools with community health and counseling, using behavioral specialists, helping students get counseling, using tech for personalized lessons, and planning smooth returns to regular classes. Eligible entity: a local educational agency (school district) or a consortium led by a district that includes things like another district, a community group, a college, a community mental health provider, or an educational service agency. Applicants must send an application as the Secretary requires and include parents when designing and running the activities. Each grantee must send a yearly report about results to the Secretary.
