Title 20 › Chapter CHAPTER 49— - ASBESTOS SCHOOL HAZARD DETECTION AND CONTROL › § 3603
A State education agency that gets federal administrative money for the covered programs must send the Secretary a plan within six months after June 14, 1980. The plan must say how, by nine months after June 14, 1980, the State will give local school districts information about the covered programs, the health risks from asbestos fibers, the Secretary’s procedures in section 3606 for carrying out these activities, and any other helpful information. The plan must promise to keep that information up to date and to give revised material to local districts. It must also explain how the State will keep records about asbestos in school buildings, about detection, containment or removal work (including replacement materials), and about repairs that restore buildings to comparable condition. The plan must name a State agency or unit to send reports and to carry out those duties. Within six months after the plan is sent, and every six months after that during the two-year period beginning on June 14, 1980, the named State agency or unit must send the Secretary a report describing what the State has done under its plan.
