Summary

The museum and sculpture garden will be named the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden forever. It will be a free public museum run by the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution. The Board must work with the Secretary of the Interior so the garden fits the Mall’s open-space plan and matches nearby projects like underground garages and street work. The United States promises to provide the money needed to maintain, operate, and manage the museum and garden. The site will be the permanent home for Joseph H. Hirshhorn’s art and the Hirshhorn Foundation’s collections, used to store, display, study, and run those collections.
