Title 20 › Chapter CHAPTER 3— - SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION, NATIONAL MUSEUMS AND ART GALLERIES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER X— - NATIONAL ARMED FORCES MUSEUM ADVISORY BOARD › § 80b
The Smithsonian’s Board of Regents must look for land and buildings in and near Washington, D.C., that could be used for military displays. After talking with the Commission on Fine Arts, the National Capital Planning Commission, and the General Services Administration, the Board must send Congress recommendations on buying those sites. Any buildings bought this way must hold public exhibits and study collections not fit for the Mall. They must include space for large military objects and for recreating forts, trenches, and other military and naval features from the colonial period, the Revolutionary War, and later U.S. operations.
