Supports building a more diverse librarian workforce. From the amounts provided under section 9123(a)(2) of this title, the Director may award grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, or other assistance to libraries, library consortia and associations, institutions of higher education (as defined in section 1001 of this title), and other groups to recruit and train librarians and to develop diverse faculty and leaders. Funded projects can boost enrollment in accredited graduate library programs; recruit middle school, high school, and postsecondary students; improve training, curricula, and doctoral education; and support research on recruiting and educating librarians. The Director must create procedures to review and evaluate these projects.
