A National Center for Education Research is created inside the Institute. It funds and supports long-term research to build knowledge about education. The Center has four goals: make sure all children can get a high-quality education, improve student achievement (including using educational technology), close achievement gaps in core subjects and improve access to postsecondary education; gather and connect research findings; make sure research follows accepted scientific methods and is honest; and promote trustworthy research that helps improve teaching and lifelong learning.
