From August 2, 2005, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities may ask for, accept, and invest gifts (money, property, or services) in the name of the U.S. to support their work. After they accept a gift, the donor or the donor’s representative must pay the proceeds to the Chairman, who must put the money into a special interest‑bearing account credited to the right endowment for the purposes the donor specified.
