Title 20 › Chapter CHAPTER 77— - FINANCIAL LITERACY AND EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT › § 9706
The Comptroller General must study how much people know about credit reports, credit scores, and the dispute resolution process, and look at ways to improve financial literacy. The study must cover who checks their credit reports and why (with rough percentages for each reason), what people know about how credit data are collected, whether they know how to get a copy of their report, and whether they understand what affects credit scores. Within the 12‑month period starting December 4, 2003, the Comptroller General must send Congress a report with the study’s findings and any recommendations, including ideas to improve financial literacy. No later than 3 years after December 4, 2003, the Comptroller General must also report to Congress on how well the Commission has promoted financial literacy and education.
