Title 21 › Chapter CHAPTER 27— - FOOD SAFETY MODERNIZATION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - IMPROVING THE SAFETY OF IMPORTED FOOD › § 2241
The Secretary of Commerce, working with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, can send 1 or more inspectors to a country or to an exporter’s facility where seafood for the United States comes from. The inspectors will check how the seafood is farmed, raised, harvested, prepared for sale, and moved, and they can give technical help about those activities. The Secretary of Health and Human Services, with Commerce, must write a report for each inspection, give the report to the country or exporter, and allow a 30-day period for a rebuttal or other comments. HHS must use those reports when deciding how to allocate inspection resources under section 350j.
