Sets what certain words mean for the rest of the chapter. The words "anti-doping organization," "athlete," "prohibited method," and "prohibited substance" use the meanings given in Article 2 of the Convention. "Code" is the World Anti-Doping Code most recently adopted by WADA on March 5, 2003. "Convention" is the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport done at Paris on October 19, 2005, ratified by the United States in 2008. "Person" covers individuals, partnerships, corporations, associations, or other entities. "Scheme in commerce" means a plan carried out using interstate or foreign transportation or communication. "USADA" is the United States Anti-Doping Agency and "WADA" is the World Anti-Doping Agency. A "Major International Sport Competition" is a competition that (1) has one or more United States athletes and three or more athletes from other countries, (2) follows the Code’s anti-doping rules, and (3) whose organizer or sanctioning body either gets sponsorship or financial support from an organization doing business in the United States or is paid for U.S. broadcast rights. It can be one event or a series of events that together qualify athletes or teams for awards or recognition.
