Title 21 › Chapter CHAPTER 9— - FEDERAL FOOD, DRUG, AND COSMETIC ACT › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - FOOD › § 347
Colored oleomargarine made and sold inside the same State must follow the same federal rules as if it crossed state lines. You may not sell colored oleomargarine unless it is packaged, each retail package is one pound or less, the label shows the word "oleomargarine" or "margarine" in letters at least as large as any other wording and lists all ingredients, and every portion inside has a wrapper saying "oleomargarine" or "margarine" in type no smaller than 20-point. In restaurants and other public eating places, a clear notice or a menu entry must say oleomargarine or margarine is served, and each serving must be labeled or be triangular in shape, even if it is free. If the product meets the sale-label rules above, it is excused from most labeling rules in section 343 except paragraphs (a) and (f). "Colored" means a tint over one and six-tenths degrees of yellow (or yellow plus red with more yellow) on the Lovibond scale.
